BeTheLight

The child is not flooding the darkness with light. He is carrying enough light for the next step. From a child’s perspective, the lantern is not a philosophy, a doctrine, or a theology. It is simply trust. The child does not need to understand the entire path. He only needs enough light to take the next step.

Be The Light

A child does not ask the light to show the whole journey.

A child does not stand frozen because tomorrow remains hidden.

A child lifts the lantern, looks at the ground before him, and takes the next step.

There is a wisdom in childhood that many adults forget. Before fear teaches us to demand certainty, before disappointment teaches us to doubt, we trust the light that has been given.

A child holding a lantern knows something profound. The purpose of the light is not to remove all mystery. The purpose of the light is to make the next step visible.

The darkness does not frighten the child as much as it frightens the adult. The child has not yet learned to imagine every possible danger. The child is still curious. Still open. Still willing to move forward without guarantees.

Life was never designed to reveal itself all at once. If we could see every turn, every challenge, every blessing, every lesson, there would be no need for trust. There would be no adventure. There would be no discovery.

The lantern was never meant to illuminate the entire forest. It was meant to reveal enough of the path to continue the journey.

Perhaps this is why children often seem closer to Truth than adults. They have not yet built their lives around control. They have not yet convinced themselves that certainty creates safety. They still know how to wonder. They still know how to believe.

The light they carry is small, but it is enough. The child does not carry the light. The Light carries the child.

Step by step, breath by breath, moment by moment, the path unfolds.

And perhaps the greatest lesson a child can teach us is this:

Trust the light you have.

Take the next step.

The rest will be revealed when it is time.
