Want to Stop the Addiction? Where to Start?

Addiction is the compulsive use of any person, place, circumstance, thing, substance, activity or event to keep from 1) hearing and following your highest guidance, 2) to anesthesize yourself from feeling what is real for you and dealing with it.

It can be any “drug” … opiates, marijuana, any narcotic legal or not, sugar, sex, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, porn, gambling, chocolate, eating, sleeping, junk food, hostility, victimhood, television, video games, cell phones, busy-ness (or your business), even exercising or weightlifting or running … the list goes on.

  1. Listen to the MindShifter Radio Show of April 13, 2016 where we discuss “Where to start?” and “What’s wrong with me that I can’t stop?”  dr. michael ryce, Dr. Steven Andracki, Dr. Tim Hayes, Gail Boggs offer guidance.  Other guest speakers have input as well.
  2. Watch Power Point Presentation of an explanation of True Forgiveness (it is not pardoning the person who triggers you). It is getting to the cause behind the behavior. The addiction and behaviors that follow are effect.
  3. Then download and use the “Reality Management Wake-up Sheet” and learn to manage your own mind and thus manage your realities. Cancel your Goals – they are the driver.
  4. Join a MindShifter Support Group if there is one near you (https://whyagain.org/mindshifter-support-group-locations/) … or be a regular part of our MindShifter Radio Show, Monday through Friday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Eastern Time … we are here to answer your questions and offer you support in your process.  It is a Community for Healing. Here is how to https://whyagain.org/want-to-stop-the-addiction-where-to-start/ (or to find the Archived shows) listen by internet or simply call 516-418-5786, you can just listen or press 1 to talk.
  5. Watch the movie “Thanks for Sharing: Life is a Journey You Never Have To Take Alone (2012)” with Mark Ruffalo and Gwyneth Paltrow.  It is actually about sexual addiction but the concept applies to any addiction: when the pain or fear or stress becomes so intense the person first reverts to hostility and if that is not enough they turn to their drug of choice. (Note: you can download it on Amazon Video for $2.99 or buy it for less than $8.00 on E-Bay.)
  6. Listen to the MP3s with guest speakers who have a good familiarity of the Forgiveness Work explaining the complimentary / similarities within 12-step addiction programs (particularly AA).
  7. Listen to the MP3s of “Recovery Wednesdays” MindShifter Radio Shows designated to discussing recovery (links below):
